The piece *bidūn qarār بِدون قَرار* (bottomless) was originally composed in 2013 for bass clarinet, violin, and speaker. The 2017 revision, according to the composer, is "to be understood as a reinterpretation. Now there are two violins that have no home. Or do they? Their home is nomadism, which is also related to the Arabic title of the piece. The spoken voice is woven in very freely and is not rhythmically structured. At times, there is only the text by Semier Insayif, and the music is silent." Sterk seems to be composing essentially "free tonally" here, "but sometimes the sonority of Arabic music is audible in the background, then microtonality comes into play." This time, the music and painting did not originate together; rather, the artist Elisabeth Holzer responded to the original version of the piece with her paintings. "The music reflects the word, and the painting reflects both."
